SAP to Salsify integration

Connecting SAP and Salsify through one governed integration platform keeps your systems aligned, your data consistent, and your workflows running automatically, no manual handoffs, even as systems change and volumes grow.

Somebody in the business fills in a different template for every retailer, and connecting SAP to Salsify turns that work into one product that each retailer's own requirements can hang from.

Integration overview

Start with SAP and Salsify. Scale to your full system landscape.

A retailer will not list a product until it has been described the way that retailer wants it described, and no two retailers want the same thing. SAP holds one version, built for making and selling the thing rather than for satisfying a buying team, so the gap is filled by somebody completing a template per account and emailing it back. Every range refresh repeats it. Connecting SAP and Salsify sends the material master into the place where those retailer-specific answers are held, so the template is filled once and the differences between retailers are managed rather than retyped.

Why integrate SAP with Salsify?

When SAP and Salsify run separately, every data handoff is manual. That creates errors, delays, and a fragility that grows with every process you add.

One master, many retailers

The SAP material arrives in Salsify once and each retailer's own requirements are held against it, so a range refresh is an update rather than a set of templates to fill in again.

Requirements stop being email

What a retailer demands is recorded where the product is, not in an attachment somebody has to find, so the person completing it can see what is missing before the retailer does.

Changes reach every account

A change made to the material in SAP reaches every retailer version built on it, so one correction does not leave five accounts still showing the figure it replaced.

Rejections say what is missing

When a retailer refuses a product, what it refused is named against that product in Salsify, so the fix is a known gap rather than a conversation with an account manager.

THE PROBLEM

How businesses use this integration

These are the scenarios where a live connection between SAP and Salsify delivers the most immediate operational value.

01

Material into the catalogue

When a material is created or changed in SAP, Alumio sends it to Salsify with its descriptions, units and pack detail, so the people writing retailer content start from what the business actually makes and sells.

02

A new retailer taken on

When the business wins an account with its own requirements, those requirements sit beside the existing ones in Salsify rather than becoming another template, so the same product answers a new buyer without being described again.

03

A specification that changed

When a pack configuration changes in SAP, the retailers whose listings depend on it are the ones needing an update, and Salsify already knows which those are rather than somebody working it out account by account.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions about the SAP and Salsify integration

Integration Platform-ipaas-slider-right
Can I connect more systems beyond SAP and Salsify?

If the photography lives somewhere else, that is the connection worth making next. A retailer that rejects a listing for a missing image rejects it just as firmly as for a missing detail, and the image is usually in a separate asset store that nobody has connected to anything. Alumio holds that alongside this one, so the product and the picture of it stop being two separate chases.

Can Alumio sync SAP material data into Salsify automatically?

Yes, and the decision worth making is how much of the product detail goes. SAP holds a great deal that exists for planning and production and will never appear on a retailer's shelf. Alumio sends what you nominate and leaves the rest in the ERP, on the schedule you set, so what the team opens stays readable. What can be written is whatever Salsify exposes for it.

Integration Platform-ipaas-slider-right
Do I need to write code to connect SAP to Salsify?

No. Which part of the SAP product answers which retailer question is held as settings, and whoever owns it afterwards is the person who knows the products rather than the person who built the connection. That matters here more than usual, because retailer requirements change more often than anything else on the page. Where a retailer wants an answer the ERP does not hold in that shape, the Code Transformer works it out at that one step.

Which retailer's requirements decide what SAP has to send to Salsify?

All of them, which is the reason to send the material master rather than a per-retailer extract. Each retailer sets its own conditions and those are the retailer's own rules rather than anything the business chooses. Sending the full picture once and letting Salsify hold the differences means a new account is a new set of requirements against an existing product, instead of a new extract out of SAP.

What happens if a sync fails between SAP and Salsify?

The expensive version is a product that reaches a retailer without the one thing that retailer insists on, because the rejection arrives days later. Alumio names what the retailer would not accept against the product it belongs to, so the gap is a specific thing to fix. Each transfer is monitored live and logged with what it carried, a refusal raises an alert with the reason, retries run where configured, and nothing goes missing silently.
