Case study

Leading British wood manufacturer chooses Alumio

How Alumio helped Morland digitalize their IT structure and streamline finance

Established in 1972, Morland is a leading supplier of wood-based ‘fit-out’ materials to industries across the United Kingdom and Europe. Their integrated manufacturing divisions produce interior panels, architectural profiles, and a range of ‘pre-fit’ products designed to reduce the need for on-site finishing. For over forty years their policy of investment in equipment, logistics, and staff have been targeted at continuously improving efficiency and quality across all sectors. Today, Morland’s supply chain runs worldwide and imports quality materials from long-term suppliers across the globe. This makes them extremely diligent in working out the financial and economic aspects of importing wood for their top-quality products.

In the quest to digitalize their ERP (Enterprise resource planning) system, Morland opted for Alumio’s iPaaS(integration platform as a service) to help create a futureproof IT landscape. Morland’s products are widely used in recreational vehicles, residential housing, hotels, marine fit-outs, and public sector projects, including hospitals and military accommodations, and to top this is the wood being imported by themselves. It was thus of paramount importance to Morland that everything in terms of finance was documented and well-structured, to ensure they didn’t end up at a financial loss while continuing to deliver the best quality products. By creating a dynamic overview of all financial aspects within the company, Morland would be self-assured that their customers receive the best services at prices that didn’t put them at a financial loss.

Using Alumio’s iPaaS to connect Morland’s ERP(Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations) to Adobe Magento, Morland was able to modernize and automate their “IT Integration Landscape”. The integration now helps predict future results and tracks real-time performances, which in turn creates data-driven decisions to accelerate the continuous growth of their business. By integrating Dynamics 365 FO to the e-commerce platform of Adobe Magento, Morland has essentially eliminated data silos and now benefits from a wide array of e-commerce web services that helped kickstart their project. With Alumio’s iPaaS, Morland can now manage all data integrations from one central hub and freely add or remove digital software as per business requirements. This allows the company to create impactful strategies that bring them closer to their worldwide customers, in an increasingly digital manner.

Powering IT Structure

Where Magento & Microsoft Dynamics meet

By connecting Morland’s ERP (Dynamics 365) to Magento we were able to create a scalable and powerfully-built e-commerce foundation within three months.

Prior to Alumio, our architecture consisted of completely siloed data that made navigating through an increasingly tangled IT landscape difficult. Thanks to integrations via Alumio, we now have a fully integrated digital architecture that scales across our markets and regions.

Digitalization for Morland

Happy customers & healthy environments

As Morland caters to many types of retailers and merchandisers with their products, completely digitalizing their brand and developing a solid e-commerce platform was always the initiative in mind.

Morland benefits from Alumio by being able to add new digital software that places all data integrations within one platform. The ability to create impactful strategies brings them closer to their worldwide customers, which supports themselves and their mission to provide top-quality wood products in line with environmental regulations.

Ready for the future

Building a future-proof infrastructure

The new infrastructure is robust and flexible. Many of the essential data streams already run through the Alumio platform. In the meantime, the ecosystem is becoming increasingly connected and expanding. The foundation is built to introduce new platforms via Alumio. It is this flexible adaptability of Alumio that makes Obelink's IT ecosystem future-proof. Because whatever digital trends you look at: from chatbots to new social platforms and markets, from big data to social media to omnichannel andInternet of Things, everything revolves around data. Everything starts with connecting your data and applications in a smart way with new applications. Data is one of the most valuable assets of a modern company. It deserves a dedicated platform. Having the power to effectively connect new platforms is a huge competitive advantage. Alumio gives Obelink that possibility, so that we connect not only with today's applications, but also with the many that are yet to come.
