On Thursday, 13 June, we attended Innovadis' Smart Industry 2024 event with the theme “Sustainable impact through smart innovations.” The event’s program centered on strategic sustainability, bringing together key players and stakeholders from various industries to discuss their sustainability initiatives and share their insights. Among the event’s speakers were:
Jan Rotmans, a well-known Dutch sustainability expert, presented on society's various crises, particularly emphasizing environmental issues and the urgent need for sustainable practices across all sectors.
Marianne van Leeuwen, circular team lead at Decathlon, discussed sustainable practices they implement at Decathlon, such as their circular economy model, which you can read about here.
Susan Ladrak, Grolsch's sustainability manager, showcased the company’s commitment to sustainability by using recycled materials for beer crates and repurposing excess heat from their brewing process to warm 600 households in the area. During the presentation, Susan Ladrak also highlighted Grolsch’s ambitious goal of becoming an entirely carbon-neutral brewery by 2030.
In addition to these presentations, the event also featured local businesses and startups sharing their innovative ideas, sparking critical discussions among those in attendance. Overall, the event was a great success and an invaluable learning experience, making us think about the critical importance of sustainability in the modern business landscape and how we can do our part to contribute.
