For the second year in a row, Alumio has been named the #1 IT cloud service provider in the Netherlands by the Emerce 100 ranking, a yearly award show in the Netherlands that aims to assess online businesses' performance, providing unbiased and in-depth research to the public. To dig into what this recognition means, and what’s next for Alumio, we sat down with Koen de Vrij, Alumio’s Chief Revenue Officer. From unexpected pivots to explosive growth and a bold vision for the future, Koen takes us behind the scenes of Alumio’s journey. Spoiler: the best is yet to come.

How does it feel to be named the #1 IT cloud service provider in the Netherlands for the second year running?

"It feels fantastic! Being named the number one IT cloud service provider for the second year in a row is incredibly validating. It confirms that we’re consistently delivering real value and that the market sees Alumio as a trustworthy integration partner. It’s more than just recognition; it’s a strong signal to both current and future customers that we’re a credible, proven player. Especially in the Dutch e-commerce space, where this ranking carries weight, it opens new doors and helps us strengthen our visibility in key markets and industries."

If you had to sum up the past year in a few words, what would they be?

"A bumpy ride, in the best way possible. This past year brought in a wave of new client types, which pushed us to evolve how we work. We had to adapt quickly, introducing new processes, refining onboarding, and adjusting to a broader range of expectations. Serving both small and large companies meant staying flexible and responsive at every turn. It’s been a continuous process of learning and adjusting. At the same time, it was amazing to see verticals outside of e-commerce begin to discover the value of Alumio. That growing recognition across industries and company sizes has been incredibly rewarding."

How would you describe Alumio’s position in the global iPaaS market right now?

"The iPaaS landscape is changing rapidly. Some competitors are leaning into automation, others into workflow management or enterprise-grade systems. Alumio stands out by being the infrastructural iPaaS: we provide the solid foundation companies need to connect core systems and trust the flow of their data.

Many customers come to us with a simple problem: connecting two applications. But as they engage with Alumio, they quickly realize it's about much more than point-to-point integrations. We're increasingly becoming the central nervous system of their data infrastructure. What they really want is value: seamless, reliable connectivity between multiple data sources. That’s what we deliver. We're not focused on human task workflows, we’re about clean, reliable, and compliant data orchestration."

Where do you see the biggest growth opportunities for Alumio in the year ahead?

"Without a doubt, AI and data orchestration. AI is only as powerful as the quality of the data behind it. Mid-sized and enterprise companies are starting to understand this. How do you ensure that AI inputs are compliant, properly labeled, and securely integrated with your existing systems? That’s where Alumio adds serious value. Data quality is quickly becoming the next currency; and we’re in a prime position to help businesses manage and capitalize on it."

If you could send one message to the Alumio team, customers, and partners, what would it be?

"Thank you for your trust, your feedback, and your continued partnership. If there’s one message I’d share, it’s this: let’s integrate. Because integration isn’t just about technology, it’s about aligning people, processes, and goals. The more we connect and collaborate, the more value we can create. Together."

What’s next for Alumio

The bottom line? Alumio isn’t just solving integrations, it’s building the digital backbone that today’s businesses need to scale securely, flexibly, and intelligently. As data ecosystems grow more complex and AI moves from buzzword to business-critical, companies need more than connectors. They need a partner that can orchestrate reliable, compliant, and future-ready data infrastructure.

That’s exactly where Alumio thrives. With a clear vision, a passionate team, and growing recognition from both customers and the industry, Alumio is leading the charge into a new era of integration, where clean data, smart orchestration, and human-centric leadership define the path forward. The future looks connected. The future looks promising. And for Alumio, the journey is only just beginning.

Integration Platform-ipaas-slider-right
What does Alumio being named the #1 IT cloud service provider in the Netherlands mean for customers?

The Emerce 100 ranking is determined through independent research assessing performance, customer satisfaction, and market presence of digital service providers in the Netherlands. Being ranked #1 in IT cloud services for the second consecutive year reflects consistent performance across these dimensions, providing prospective customers with third-party validation that Alumio delivers measurable value at scale. It signals reliability of the platform and team, which is particularly relevant for enterprise customers evaluating integration infrastructure they will depend on for business-critical data flows.

What is the Emerce 100 ranking and how is it determined?

Emerce 100 is an annual Dutch ranking that evaluates online and digital businesses across categories including e-commerce, marketing, technology, and cloud services. Rankings are based on independent research combining expert jury assessment, industry peer voting, and data on market presence and customer outcomes. It is one of the most credible third-party assessments of digital service providers operating in the Netherlands, making a top-ranked position a meaningful signal of sustained quality and market trust.

What does Alumio's growth trajectory say about the iPaaS market in the Netherlands?

Alumio's growth and consecutive Emerce 100 #1 ranking reflect broader market momentum: Dutch businesses across e-commerce, manufacturing, wholesale, and retail are increasingly investing in governed integration infrastructure as the complexity of their system landscapes grows. The shift from custom-coded integrations to iPaaS platforms is accelerating as businesses realize that maintaining point-to-point connections at scale is unsustainable. Alumio's position in this market reflects both the strength of its platform and the maturity of the Dutch e-commerce and digital transformation ecosystem.

How does Alumio's Dutch heritage influence its product and partner ecosystem?

Alumio's Groningen origins and Dutch headquarters mean the platform's development has been shaped by the specific needs of the Dutch e-commerce and manufacturing market: deep integration with Bol.com, strong coverage of Dutch ERP systems, multilingual content management for Dutch and English operations, and a partner network built primarily through Dutch e-commerce agencies and system integrators. This proximity to the Dutch market means Alumio's connector library and support resources reflect the system combinations that Dutch businesses actually run, rather than being optimized exclusively for global enterprise patterns.

What does the recognition mean for Alumio's roadmap and future direction?

Recognition as the top-ranked IT cloud service provider in the Netherlands reinforces Alumio's direction: investing in the platform capabilities that drive customer success at scale: AI-augmented integration, expanded connector coverage, improved monitoring and observability, and reduced technical barriers for business-side integration management. It also validates the partnership-led go-to-market model, where implementation partners amplify platform value for customers who need hands-on delivery alongside the technology.

How does Alumio's position in the Netherlands translate to value for international customers?

Alumio serves customers across Europe and beyond, with the Netherlands as the primary market and a London office supporting UK and broader European expansion. The platform's architecture is language and geography agnostic: multilingual content flows, multi-locale e-commerce integrations, and European compliance requirements (GDPR, ISO 27001) are built into the platform rather than added on. Customers outside the Netherlands benefit from the same platform maturity, connector depth, and support infrastructure that earned Alumio its domestic recognition.
